House on the Rocks
House on the Rocks
I am not really good with giving painting names. In the early 1920's there was a scholar and author, Paul Jordan-Smith who paraded as a Russian artist and invented his own art movement, to prove the modern art critics of the day were a joke. He painted a few painting, with subject matter as random as he could find and he believed the more arbitrary the name of a painting, the more the art critics love it. He managed to fool most critics of the day, but perhaps he was onto something, who knows!
Anyway, I am sure he would have been able to name this painting of a house on the cliff with a stormy sea much better than I ever can. Maybe he would have called it: 'No we don't have any bananas'.
Paint it and see if you can come up with a better name! PS. if you would like to read the story about Jordan-Smit, here is the link: https://www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-hoax-art-movement-fooled-art-establishment
This 40 x 50cm canvas is a bit more of a challenge, with smaller paint areas and 25 colours. Each box contains a stretched, printed and numbered canvas, paint, brushes and a page detailing the numbers for an extra reference.
