This stunning image was painted by Edward Hopper in 1939. Although the image looks bright and serene, it still echoes the feeling of loneliness and escape, typical of his work. Something about this image does seem to give you the idea that all is not what it seems, perhaps because the images looks visibly disengaged or they are pre-occupied with the buoy, I don't know. A slight feeling of foreboding is created. He is able to capture a moment of stillness, even in an image where movement is so prominent. I love his work and I love the colours he used for the ocean and the sky in this specific one.
This beautiful blue 40 x 50cm canvas is a relatively challenging one, with 24 colours. Each box contains a stretched, printed and numbered canvas, paint, brushes and a page detailing the numbers for an extra reference.
